C’e’ un trend che si sta diffondendo in certi quartieri artistici come Williamsburg e Bushwick. Alcuni ragazzi hanno iniziato ad arrotolare i loro lunghi capelli in un’acconciatura che fino a poco tempo fa era scelta prevalentemente da bibliotecaie, ballerine ed icone di stile come Grace Kelly. Mi raccomando non chiamate questa acconciatura chignon, chiamatela raccolto per uomo. E’ cosi’ che va qua a New York.

Questo tipo di raccolto e’ sicuramente simile alla coda portata da molte donne, che sta avendo tra l’altro un gran ritorno, ma nella variante maschile e’ solitamente portata piu’ bassa e morbida .

Si puo’  teorizzare che un uomo che sceglie questo stile per i propri capelli, e’ piu’ in contatto con la propria parte femminile, ma questa acconciatura ha anche una lunga tradizione legata al mondo maschile. Gli uomini Sick hanno i loro lunghi capelli raccolti in code, nascoste sotto il loro turbante e poi c’e’ l’esempio per eccelenza, i samurai giapponesi, padrini e rappresentanti per eccelenza dei capelli raccolti.

There is a trend that is growing in certain arty neighborhoods like Williamsburg and Bushwick. Some men are twisting their long hair into a form more famously worn by librarians, dancers and style  icons as Grace Kelly. But don’t call the male version an up-do or a chignon. Call it a man bun.

The man bun is similar in form to the topknot worn by many women — which is going through its own fashion resurgence — but it is often worn slightly lower on the head.

You could theorize that a man who wears a bun is in touch with his feminine side, but the form also has a masculine tradition. Sikh men have long tied their hair in a bun, covered by a turban. And centuries ago, the samurai wore a topknot.
